Giovanni Guidanti

Violin Maker 1687-1760
BolognaItaly

Though the familial relationship between them is unclear, historical documentation shows that Giovanni Guidanti inherited Floriano Guidanti's position as repairer of the Bologna Accademia Filarmonica's instruments shortly after his death in 1715.

In fact, recent research suggests that the Guidanti family was perhaps larger than originally thought, and prompts us to rethink the authorship of instruments bearing the original label "Joannes Florenus Guidantus."
